The KKP has already issued 4,489 certificates to fisherman out of the targeted 4,500.
Pekanbaru (ANTARA News) - The Fishery and Maritime Ministry (KKP) intends to issue a total of 47 thousand land certificates to fishermen during the 2011 to 2014 period, KKP minister Sharif C. Sutardjo said on Tuesday.

"Issuing these land certificates is part of a business empowerment programme started by the KKP to legalize its assets and certify land rights," Sutardjo said.

The minister was speaking at an event held to sign a cooperation agreement between the KKP and the national agency for land affairs (BPN).

He added that the agreement follows up on another deal between the two agencies aimed at empowering fishermen, the fish farming, fish processing, and coastal communities as well as small islands.

Sutardjo said the KKP has already issued 4,489 certificates to fisherman out of the targeted 4,500.
