Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia`s Vice President Boediono is scheduled to leave the country on Tuesday for Iran to attend a Non-aligned Movement conference on August 30-31.

"On the sidelines of the conference the vice president will also conduct bilateral meetings with a number of high ranking officials from other countries," vice presidential spokesman Yopie Hidayat said here on Monday.

Boediono and delegation including his wife, Herawati, will leave at 7am from Halim Perdanakusumah airport aboard air force presidential aircraft Boeing 737-400.

Representatives from 120 member countries, 17 observer countries and 10 international organizations will attend the 16th conference in Iran.

The NAM was established following the Asian-African Conference on April 18, 1955 in Bandung, West Java, which was attended by leaders from 29 former colonial countries in Asia and Africa in the spirit of unity and solidarity to meet the new era of independence.

In 1964 77 members of the NAM set up a G-77 group which later developed a South-South cooperation to prioritize on international economic and development cooperation. The group members have now totaled 131.(*)
