Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA News) - Hundreds of seaweed businessmen from all over the world are expected to participate in the 4th Seaweed International Business Forum and Exhibition (Seabfex) to be held in Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara province, on October 22-24.

"The number of participants is expected to exceed 1,000 because the 4th Seabfex will be held along with the 3rd National Congress of the Indonesian Association of Coastal Management Experts (HAPPI) and other activities," H Ismail, head of the management and marketing section of the West Nusa Tenggara provincial maritime affairs and fisheries office, said here on Friday.

Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sharif C Sutardjo will open the two events, Ismail said.

The opening ceremony will also be attended by the trade minister, the industry minister, the tourism and creative economy minister and the minister for the development of least-developed regions.

"Of course, officials of relevant ministries from 12 countries will also attend the meetings. Seven out of the 12 countries have confirmed their plan to attend the meetings, including Japan, Korea, Brazil, Argentine, Chile, Mexico and China," he said.

He said the events` organizing committee had also extended invitation to the Netherlands, the Philippines, Australia, Hong Kong and Vietnam.

The meetings will take place at Lombok Raya Hotel in Mataram, capital of West Nusa Tenggara province, he said.
