Senggigi, West Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian parliamentary delegation has called on ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) members to collectively strive to help meet the Millennium Development Goals (MDGS) by 2015.

"We admit that levels of development in ASEAN member countries vary. And we have decided to ask AIPA members to boost the achievement of the MDGS in 2015," Indonesian chief delegate Priyo Budi Santoso said at the AIPA general assembly here on Tuesday.

Priyo said although the targets were quite ambitious hope must remain strong.

He meanwhile said Indonesia has been honored to have been trusted to become one of the collective chairmen of the United Nations High Level Panel of Eminent Persons on the Post 2015 Development Agenda.

"President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono along with the British prime minister and the president of Liberia would be the spearheads to increase global development after the MDGS target is achieved," he said.

In view of that he called for support from the parliaments and governments of ASEAN countries to make the work of the high level panel successful.
