New York (ANTARA News) - Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has invited his Egyptian counterpart, Mohamed Morsy, to attend the Bali Democracy Forum (BDF), to be held in the island resort of Bali, at the end of 2012.

President Yudhoyono extended the invitation after meeting with Morsy during the UN General Assembly at UN Headquarters in New York on Wednesday.

"President Morsy is expected to attend the Bali Democracy Forum to learn about the democratic process in Indonesia," presidential special staff for international relations Teuku Faizasyah said.

"Egypt has openly praised Indonesia`s success in the Aceh Province, and President Morsy thought the success was worth learning from," he added.

Faizasyah noted that the meeting between the two heads of state was the first since Morsy was elected to replace Hosni Mubarak as Egypt's president.

"President Yudhoyono has congratulated Egypt for successfully conducting the elections and has expressed optimism that the country will develop at a fast rate under the governance of President Morsy," he said, when speaking about the two countries` cooperation in trade, education and energy.

President Yudhoyono also held bilateral meetings with Bulgarian Prime Minister Rosen Plevbeliev and Finnish President Sauli Niisito in an effort to boost bilateral economic cooperation.
