Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Strong financial performance of traded companies propped up share price index at the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) on Wednesday.

The BEI index closed 0.12 percent stronger at 4,335.37 points after a weakening in the opening trade on Wednesday morning. The index of 45 most liquid stocks also gained 0.06 percent to 748.87 points.

MNC Securities` researcher Edwin Sebayang said good financial performance of traded companies and inflows of large foreign funds strengthened the BEI index.

"In the last six week trading foreign net buying exceeded Rp6 trillion," Edwin said.

Increase in share price were led by shares of multifarious industry, infrastructure and trading companies. Decliners include shares of plantation, finance and consumer goods companies.

Wednesday`s trading was recorded in 118,357 transactions with 4.29 billion shares changing hands valued at Rp4.30 trillion.

Gains were recorded by 123 shares with 88 decliners and 123 others flat.
