The director general of agricultural industry said "Walt Disney has slandered as it has no strong evidence showing that Indonesian paper products are not eco-friendly."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government will take a legal action unless the Walt Disney Company would settle its boycott on paper products from Indonesia the company considered not eco-friendly, Benny Wahyudi said.

The director general of agricultural industry said "Walt Disney has slandered as it has no strong evidence showing that Indonesian paper products are not eco-friendly."

He said Indonesian paper products are indeed good and competitive so that foreign parties have often harassed the country`s domestic paper industry.

Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) Corporate and Communications Affairs Hendra Gunawan meanwhile said the APP has sent an invitation to Walt Disney, Rainforest Action Network and the US government to come to Indonesia "to directly inspect conditions in the field."

"The boycott by Walt Disney is a unilateral action while its accusation is wrong," he said.

The Walt Disney has stopped using paper products from Indonesia for concern over tropical forest conditions in the country.

International environment observers have asked the company to review its decision to buy paper from Indonesia and cut its relations with two paper producers in Asia. (*)
