"We appreciated their decision."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) stated here on Friday that a total of six police officers have so far resigned from their posts as investigators in the agency.

"This afternoon, another one resigned, namely Police Commissioner Egy Adrian Zues," KPK spokesman Johan Budi told the press at the KPK's headquarters.

He said the KPK leadership had accepted Egy's resignation.

"We appreciated their decision," Johan added.

He noted that Egy had worked with KPK for approximately four years and had chosen to not extend his tenure with the agency.

"His term will expire on November 3 and he has chosen to return to his main office," Johan said.

Johan denied that KPK was deliberately attempting to get rid of investigators from the police force.

"I think that is not true. They have no bad record. So far their performance has been good," he said.

Earlier, on Thursday, five police commissioners resigned as KPK investigators Hendy K, Rizki A, Yudhistira M, Irfan R and Popon K.

At a press conference on the same day, Johan said: One officer said in his resignation letter that he wished to develop his professional career as a police investigator in the police force.

"We have gained valuable experience at the KPK. This is part of our effort to develop our professional career as a police investigator," he quoted the officer`s resignation letter as saying.

After the recent series of resignations, there are only 62 KPK investigators left at the agency.

"Apart from investigators from the police, the prosecutor`s office and the BPKP (state development finance comptroller), KPK is now training 30 new investigators who were recruited internally," Johan noted.

KPK has been at loggerheads with the police after naming a police general as a suspect in a corruption case involving the procurement of driving simulators.
