Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Eleven teachers of the Islamic Boarding School in Indonesia are in Japan from November 5 to 16 at the invitation of the Japanese government with the aim to strengthen relations between the Japanese community and Islamic leaders of Indonesia.

This is the 9th visit by Islamic teachers to Japan, according to a release from the Japanese Embassy office in Jakarta.

A total of 93 teachers have already been invited by the government of Japan to encourage understanding and exchange of information in education, thus strengthening relations between the Japanese community and Indonesia`s Islamic teachers.

During their visit to Japan, the teachers are scheduled to exchange their views with Buddhist monks. Besides, they will stay with Japanese families in their homes.

The teachers will also visit schools in the prefectures of Tokyo and Kansai where they will engage in an exchange of views with local intellectuals and university students.

In addition, they are also scheduled to visit tsunami-hit regions such as the city of Kessenuma with a view to having a close look at disaster handling facilities.

Prior to their departure for Japan, the teachers were seen off by the Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia, Yoshiro Katori, at the latter`s residence in Jakarta.
