Jakarta (ANTARA News) - UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navenethem Pillay visited Constitutional Court (MK) chairman Mahfud MD at the latter`s office here on Tuesday.

"He came to ask about the freedom of opinion and the freedom of the press," Mahfud said following a meeting with Pillay.

During the meeting, Mahfud was accompanied by other constitutional judges including Ahmad Sodiki, Fadlil Sumadi, Hamdan Zoelva, Maria Farida and Muhammad Alim.

The meeting was part of Pillay`s visit to Indonesia during which he also attended the fifth Bali Democracy Forum on November 8.

While in Indonesia, the former South African constitutional judge had met with the supreme court justice, the coordinating minister for political, legal and security affairs, the law and human rights minister, the religious affairs minister, the Indonesian military chief and the National Police chief.

He is also scheduled to visit the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM), the National Commission for Women, the National Commission for Child Protection.(*)
