"We ask the United States to put an end to the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip."
Medan, North Sumatra (ANTARA News) - Hundreds of cadres and members of the Islam-based United Development Party (PPP) staged a rally outside the office of the US Consulate here on Thursday to condemn Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip in Palestine.

The demonstrators also asked the United Nations to put a halt to the Israeli aggression.

"We also appeal to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League to be pro-active in stopping Israel`s uncivilized act and aggression in the Gaza Strip," the rally`s coordinator, Tamrin Harahap said in his oration.

Tamrin further urged the Indonesian government to condemn the Israeli attacks on the Palestine people.

"We ask the United States to put an end to the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip in Palestine. May the world condemn, in the strongest term, Israel`s uncivilized act against the Palestinian people," he said while chanting Allahu Akbar (God is Great).

However, the demonstrators were denied entry by the police to the US Consulate to convey their statement condemning Israel`s brutality and aggression in the Gaza Strip.

Around 100 Palestinians have been killed and more than 800 have been injured until the sixth day of Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip on Nov 19. Most of the victims are women and children.

The rally caused congestion in a number of roads in the North Sumatra provincial capital MT Haryono Street, Thamrin Street, Bogor Street, Pandu Street, Pemuda Street and Suprapto Street.
