Jayapura, Papua (ANTARA News) - One officer was safe but three others were killed after unknown gunmen attacked a police station in Pirime in the district of Lanny Jaya, Papua, early on Tuesday morning.

One of the officers who was killed in the attack at around 6.30am local time is Second Inspector Rofli Takubesi, who was the chief of the Pirime police sector, Papua Regional Police Command spokesman Adjunct Senior Commissioner Gede Sumerta told ANTARA News.

The others are Brigadier Jefri Rumkoren and First Brigadier Daniel Makuker who were members of the police sector.

The officer who was safe is First Brigadier MG, by his initials, but he was not yet informed about his present conditions.

He said the chief of the Papua Regional Police Command, Inspector General Tito Karnavian was already in Wamena on the way to Pirime which is around three hours drive from the district. (*)
