"He wrote a letter to the KPK yesterday."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will again summon former foreign minister Hasan Wirajuda next Tuesday to testify on a graft case related to the use of funds for international meetings at the Foreign Ministry from 2004 to 2005.

"Another summons will be served on him. He did not show up yesterday because he had an assignment. He is expected to be present next Tuesday," KPK spokesman Johan Budi SP said here on Wednesday.

Wirajuda was supposed to come to the KPK building on Tuesday to give his testimonies.

Johan said Wirajuda did not ignore the first summons as he had earlier written a letter to the KPK that he could not show up.

"He wrote a letter to the KPK yesterday. But the letter reached the investigator only in the evening," he said.

Wirajuda who is currently a member of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono`s advisory council will be questioned as a witness in the alleged involvement of the former secretary general of the foreign ministry, Sudjadnan Parnohadiningrat, in the graft case.

Sudjadnan has been accused of abusing his authority while he was in office. As a result, the state suffered Rp18 billion in losses.

He has been named a suspect since November 21, 2011. If found guilty, he may be sentenced to a maximum of 20 years in jail.

Earlier, Sudjadnan was sentenced to 20 months` imprisonment by the anti-corruption court on January 19 last year for embezzling funds to repair the Indonesian embassy building in Singapore in 2003-2004.

The sentence is 16 months lighter than the public prosecutor had earlier sought.

According to the judge who tried the case, Sudjadnan was found guilty of receiving US$200 thousand from then ambassador to Singapore Slamet Hidayat to pave the way for the disbursement of renovation funds before receiving approval from the finance minister.
