"We have to make use of the grants from the US government and the UNICEF."
Mamuju, West Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - The UNICEF and the US government will assist West Sulawesi in healthcare development, according to the province's governor, Anwar Adnan Saleh.

"I met with Health Ministry officials recently to discuss the health problems facing our province and finding ways to overcome those," he said here on Wednesday, adding that the UNICEF and the US government had agreed to provide assistance.

"We have to make use of the grants from the US government and the UNICEF, which have contributed a lot to healthcare development in Indonesia," Anwar stated.

The governor noted that West Sulawesi was lagging behind other provinces in healthcare development "as reflected in the public health development index".

"Therefore, community-based health programs should be promoted by involving non- government organizations and optimizing the functions of integrated health posts, community health centres (Puskesmas), and hospitals," Anwar added.
