Gorontalo (ANTARA News) - The North Gorontalo local government is scheduled to host a discussion among street vendors in Sulawesi island on March 23.

The discussion will mark the inauguration of Regional Leadership Council of Street Vendors Association (DPD APKL) in Gorontalo province.

"The event will be attended by Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa, who is also the chairman of the Central APKLI, and Cooperative and SMEs minister Syarifudin Hasan, who is a national patron of APLKI," said Muchtar Adam, the Head of Cooperation of Industry and Trade Department of North Gorontalo.

"The local government appreciates that the ministers will attend the event. It will also provide support for the implementation of the National Movement for Rights of Indonesia Street Vendors," he stated.

A thousand street vendors in the district will take part in the event. Therefore, the local government will be able collect a lot of important data relating to them.

"The street vendors discussion is very important for encouraging the development of small and medium businesses in this area," Muchtar pointed out.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the DPP APKL North Gorontalo, Rahmat Pakaya, said the main objective of the event was to improve the welfare of the street vendors.

"Vendors who meet the necessary criteria will receive aid and assistance," he noted.

"Hopefully, there will be an even distribution of aid among vendors who need venture capital and are ready to focus on their businesses for at least five years," Rahmat added.
