Batam (ANTARA News) - Batavia Air, which was declared bankrupt yesterday left Rp255 million in debt to Hang Nadim International Airport of Batam.

The Jakarta Commercial Court declared the airline bankrupt on petition filed by the International Lease Finance Corp, a US aircraft leasing company for default on a debt of US$4.68 million.

The head of finance division of Hang Nadim Suwarno said the debt in airport services was based on calculation until December 2012.

"The debt does not include bills the airline has to pay for services in January," Suwarno said.

He said Hang Nadim already sent a letter demand payment last week but no answer from the management of the airline.

Meanwhile tens of passengers buying the ticket of the airline for flight today demanded the return of their money as the airline has stopped operation, but the office of the airline was closed. (ASG/A014)
