Sarilamak (ANTARA News) - A resident of Manggilang village in Pangkalan Koto Baru sub-district, West Sumatra, identified as Ujang Labuak went missing when he crossed Pulau Angkang river on Sunday.

Search and Rescue (SAR) team and local people have been seeking the victim, Zamratul Fuadi (a Manggilang resident) said here on Monday.

Hundreds of local residents went to Pulau Angkang village in Pangkalan Koto Baru sub-district, in effort to know the victim`s whereabouts.

"Many of the residents tried to find the victim by diving in the Pulau Angkang river, while the other ones prayed to God," Fuadi said.

According to him, on Sunday afternoon (March 24) Ujang Labuak carried a piece of wood by crossing the river, heading to Pulau Angkang, Enam Koto sub-district.

"So far, no one knows what made Ujang Labuak drowned," said Putri Cantika, an employee of Pangkalan Koto Baru sub-district.
