The 2012 strong sale growth also reflects a change in business composition thanks to the greater contributions from the distribution and logistics division
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Publicly-listed pharmaceutical company PT Kalbe Farma Tbk posted a net consolidated profit of Rp1.73 trillion last year, up 17 percent from the year before on strong sale growth and efficiency.

The increase in net profit raised earning per share to Rp37 from Rp32 previously, Kalbe Farma finance director and corporate secretary Vidjongtius said in a press statement released on Thursday.

Overall, the sale growth was fueled by strong volume growth, he said adding the company`s strategy to improve its market effectiveness had proven fruitful to support its sale growth.

"The 2012 strong sale growth also reflects a change in business composition thanks to the greater contributions from the distribution and logistics division," he said.

Net sales rose 25 percent to Rp13.63 trillion in 2012 from Rp10.91 trillion a year earlier, leading the company to book a 17 percent increase in gross profit compared to the year before, he said.

"The fast growing distribution and logistics division in 2012 caused its contributions to the overall sales to increase 38 percent at the end of 2012 from 35 percent at the end of 2011 and had an impact on declining gross profit margin to the net sales to 47.9 percent in 2012 from 50.9 percent in 2011," he said.
