"The BEI index lost ground to follow the regional trend with little positive sentiment," analyst Benedictus Agung said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) opened trade Monday morning with composite share price index falling 13.86 points on lack of positive sentiment.

The BEI index dropped 13.86 points or 0.28 percent to 4,927.12 points with index of 45 most liquid stocks (LQ45) down 3.47 points or 0.41 percent to 833.40 points.

"The BEI index lost ground to follow the regional trend with little positive sentiment," Samuel Sekuritas` analyst Benedictus Agung said here on Monday.

Benedictus said technical factor also contributed to the BEI index fall after significant gain of 4.5 percent in previous four trading days last week, prompting profit taking.

In addition, positive sentiment from distribution of dividends from last year`s profit has been over contributing to the index fall on Monday morning, he added.

Panin Sekuritas` analyst Purwoko Sartono said the majority of markets in the region recorded index fall on declining US house sales data.

Purwoko predicted the BEI index would fluctuated around 4,920-4,960 points in the opening day this week.

Regional markets such as Hang Seng recorded a decline of 0.74 percent in index to 22,299.63 points, Nikkei-225 down in index 0.99 percent to 12,275.26 points, Straits Times gained 0.03 percent to 3,309.04 points .(*)
