Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia`s monthly inflation rate in March 2013 shot up to 0.63 percent which is relatively high in the past five years, Central Statistics Agency (BPS) chief Suryamin said.

"The inflation rate was relatively high compared to the same month in the past five years," he said here on Monday.

On-month inflation rate in March last hit an all time high of 0.95 percent in 2008, he said.

But the March 2013 inflation rate fell from 0.75 percent a month earlier, he said.

The March 2013 inflation rate was chiefly fueled by volatile prices which contributed 0.52 percent or 2.44 percent as a whole, he said.

"The inflation triggered by volatile prices has been detected since last February following an increase in the prices of several commodities," he said.

Meanwhile, general inflation contributed 0.63 percent, core inflation 0.06 percent and administered price 0.05 percent to the March 2013 inflation rate, he said.

"The core inflation and administered prices were relatively controllable," he said.
