Surabaya, East Java (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Yudhoyono met the employees of PT Maspion here at noon on Wednesday to commemorate Labor Day.

In the company of First Lady Ani Yudhoyono, the head of state was on a working visit to East Java from Wednesday to Sunday.

Yudhoyono and his entourage arrived at Djuanda airport here at 10.30 am and then made his way to PT Maspion to meet the company's workers and have lunch with them.

PT Maspion employs around 13,000 people with production facilities spread out in four industrial area in Sidoarjo and Gresik, East Java, and one factory in Jakarta, West Java.

Through the dedication and hard work of its employees, shaped by the strong entrepreneurship and vision of the founders, the company has been able to maintain its leading position in the house-ware industry, exhibit continued growth, and creating more values to all the stakeholders.

Established by Alim Husin and his partner Gunardi Go, the company has gradually built up its customer base and gain recognition in the industry as quality and reliable manufacturer.

Today, PT Maspion is one of Indonesia's most respected group of companies, shaped by the expertise in product innovation and strong spirit of entrepreneurship of the founders.

Besides visiting PT Maspion, Yudhoyono is also scheduled to visit PT Unilever, a leading consumer goods company which is rapidly growing.

Earlier on Tuesday, Yudhoyono said on his Twitter account that the progress of a company should be accompanied with the welfare of its workers.

"With the spirit of 2013 Labor Day or Mayday, I hope an ever increasing improvement of good relation between a company and its workers," the president said on his twitter.

He noted that the wages of workers should keep getting better according to the ability of the company they work for.

To meet the reasonable wages for the workers, the president said the company should be fair, and on the other hand the undue exaction that caused the high cost of economy should be eradicated.

"Stop all undue exaction of any kind and improve the wages of the workers," the president noted.
