Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia`s Foreign Affairs Minister Marty Natalegawa here on Thursday met with his visiting Chinese counterpart Minister Wang Yi to discuss trade and strategic cooperation between the two countries.

"Both of us agree that Indonesia and China need to increase strategic cooperation in the future especially in sectors such as trade, maritime, energy and people to people contact," said Minister Marty in a joint press conference with Minister Wang Yi on Thursday at noon.

Marty emphasized Indonesia and China`s economies have been growing during the past years despite global crisis. Both countries are important with regard to boosting economic growth in Asia.

Meanwhile Minister Wang Yi said there are more sectors which Indonesia and China can work on. Bilaterally, Indonesia and China have conducted cooperation in sectors such as trade, investment, maritime, and infrastructure.

In the economic sector, trade value between Indonesia and China increased from US$49.153 billion in 2011 to US$51.046 billion. Investment value also increased from US$128.2 million in 2011 to US$141 million in the following year.
