They are scheduled to arrive in Ternate in the near future..."
Ternate (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Police Headquarters will send 400 Mobile Brigade (Brimob) personnel from their Kelapa Dua command station in Jakarta`s southern outskirts of Depok to help secure the North Maluku gubernatorial election scheduled for July 1.

"They are scheduled to arrive in Ternate in the near future as the North Maluku gubernatorial election will enter its campaign phase," North Maluku provincial police chief Brig. Gen. Machmud Arifin said here on Tuesday.

Upon their arrival in the provincial capital of Ternate, the 400 Brimob personnel will be deployed in a number of strategic places such as the secretariat of the provincial election commission (KPU) and the gubernatorial office, he said.

The dispatch of Brimob personnel is intended to anticipate a conflict like in the previous gubernatorial election, he said.

He said the North Maluku provincial police has also coordinated with the Maluku provincial police and the North Sulawesi provincial police to send their personnel in case of conflict during the election.

The North Maluku provincial police itself has prepared a total of 7,161 personnel to secure the election, he said.

They will also be deployed in all parts of the province including rural areas as the election has the potential to cause a conflict not only in urban areas but also rural areas, he said.
