Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Constitutional Court (MK) Chief Justice M. Akil Mochtar met President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Tuesday to inform him of the court`s preparedness to face the 2014 legislative and presidential elections.

"As an institute responsible for handling election disputes, MK needs to directly inform the President of its preparedness (to face the elections)," Mochtar said following a meeting with the President at the latter`s office here.

Mochtar said the elections must be prepared from now on to make them a success.

Likewise the constitutional court must also prepare itself for the elections particularly in handling election disputes, he said.

He gave the assurance that the ranks and files of the Constitutional Court will work in such a professional and independent way that all election disputes can be settled fairly.

President Yudhoyono met constitutional court justices led by the court`s chief justice Mochtar and deputy chief justice Achmad Sodiki for nearly a half hour starting at 02.00 p.m.

The other constitutional court justices are Harjono, Maria Farida Indarti, Muhammad Alim, Ahmad Fadlil Sumadi, Hamdan Zoelva, Anwar Usman and Arief Hidayat.

This is the first meeting between the President and the court`s justices since Mochtar succeeded Mahfud MD as the court`s chief justice.

The President was during the meeting accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa, Coordinating Minister for People`s Welfare Agung Laksono, Minister/State Secretary Sudi Silalahi and Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights Denny Indrayana.
