Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Jakarta provincial government will conduct a traditional arts festival 2013 or "Enjoy Jakarta International Folklore Festival (EJIFF)" on June 26 through 28, a tourism official has said.

Six foreign countries are expected to participated in the first-ever EJIFF, said head of the city`s tourism and cultural affairs office, Arie Budhiman here on Sunday.

The participating countries are Egypt, Chinese Taipei, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Jakarta as the host, he pointed out.

"EJIFF is one of the promotion and preservation programs of traditional arts which is aimed to commemorate the Jakarta`s 486th anniversary," Arie said.

"We wish to make Jakarta as a modern international tourism destination through this event, because Jakarta as a melting pot of the national arts and cultures as well as a benchmark of the Indonesian cultural development," he said.

According to Arie, EJIFF will take place at Sasono Langen Budoyo in Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) or Beautiful Indonesia in Miniature Park on Wednesday (June 26) at 7.00pm local time, and in Mall Taman Anggrek on Friday (June 28) at 1.00pm local time.

The TMII is a culture-based recreational area located in East Jakarta, while Mall Taman Anggrek is in West Jakarta.

Meanwhile, the peak event will be held in Gambir Market Expo in Kemayoran Jakarta Fair arena on Thursday (June 27) and Friday (June 28) at 5.00pm, Arie added.
