Beijing (ANTARA News) - Indonesia and China have established anti corruption cooperation, according to a press release from Indonesian Embassy here on Tuesday.

It said the cooperation was the focus of a meeting between Indonesian Deputy Attorney General Darmono and Chinese Attorney General Cao Jingming in Jinan, Shandong Province, during the Fifth Meeting of the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA).

In the meeting with Cao Jingming, Darmono said it was necessary for the two countries to strengthen technical cooperation in legal management, particularly in relation with anti corruption in Indonesia and China.

Darmono said no country was capable of eradicating corruption itself because some or even all of the proceeds of crime of corruption detected were stashed away in other countries.

Therefore he noted that anti corruption law enforcers should cooperate to increase their technical skills including the mastery of information technology in order to be able to trace the assets from the result of corruption.

According to him, corruption eradication efforts need comprehensive strategy that cover public education, "asset recovery" harmonization of regulations, and international cooperation.

He said the memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the anti corruption cooperation was signed during the meeting of International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities which was attended by 200 participants from 50 countries.
