Bener Meriah, Aceh (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono plans to visit areas worst hit by recent quake in Central Aceh on Monday, a local official said.

The commander of the Central Aceh and Bener Meriah Disaster Command Post, Col. Hipdizah, said in Redelong here on Saturday the head of state would depart from Jakarta to Malikussaleh airport in Lhok Seumawe where he would later proceed to Bener Meriah by helicopter.

Immediately upon arrival the President would visit the affected areas in Blang Mancung and Serempah villages in Ketol sub-district.

"If the weather is fine he would return to Jakarta after the visit but if the weather is bad he would spend a night in Takengon, Central Aceh," he said.

Ketol sub-district is the worst hit by the 6.2 magnitude quake on Tuesday as almost 90 percent of houses there had been heavily damaged.

Two villages in the sub-district which is located on a mountain slope namely Bah and Serempah had been buried by landslides that happened after the quake with 12 people under it but five bodies of them had been discovered.

The quake at 2.35pm on Tuesday left 38 dead consisting of nine in Bener Meriah and 29 in Central Aceh.
