Batam, Riau Islands (ANTARA News) - A total of 13 foreign delegates of chambers of commerce and industry visited Batam Concession Agency here on Tuesday to discuss about investment opportunities in the region.

The foreign delegates were received by Deputy of Management Affairs to Batam Concession Agency, Asroni Harahap, Investment and Marketing Affairs Director, Purnomo Andiantono and public relations officer of Batam authority, Dwi Djoko Wiwoho, here on Tuesday.

The foreign delegates consisting of the Italian Trade Commission, Yaniman Lani, British Chamber from comp. Tella Maris Int, Suresh Marcandan, China United Engineering, Cai Xinfa, Commercial of Polland Embassy, Mr Tomasz Pietka, Amcham/PT. Kotaisan Prima Transindo, Johnson Young and Jenny Young, Commercial Counsellor Turkish Embassy, Okan Ozturk, Trade Officer Turkish Embassy, Suhara Setiadi Lalu.

The other ones are German TUV Nord Group, Eva Maria Christiana Pitterling and Ellys Simamora, Senior Trade Officer Switzerland Embassy, Lukmansyah Hardigaluh and Korea Trade Center, Song Yoo Hwang and Lee Jang Hee.

"Such visit was aimed at exploring investment and business in Riau Islands province especially in Batam," Asroni said, adding that the foreign delegates asked among other things about the differences between Batam and other regions in Indonesia.

According to Asroni, Batam is authorized by central government in line with the government regulation (PP) number 46/2007 to manage free trade area and Batam free port that allows Batam to issue import and export licenses.
