Jakarta (ANTARA News) - An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter Scale jolted southeast of Mentawai Islands, West Sumatra, on Wednesday at 12:14 am Western Indonesia Time.

According to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the epicenter of the quake was located at 3.34 degrees southern latitude and 100.33 degrees eastern longitude or 146 km southwest of Mentawai Islands, 224 km northeast of Bengkulu or 783 km northeast of Jakarta.

However, the earthquake did not have the potential to cause a tsunami.
