Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Jakarta will conduct International Open Piano Competition 2013 (JIOPC 2013) that is expected to take place on July 19 through 21 in the Balairung Sapta Pesona of the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry, an official said.

"The competition was aimed to facilitate the talented younger pianists to compete in effort to produce professional ones, " Deputy Minister for Tourism and Creative Economy, Sapta Nirwandar said here on Monday.


It also to promote pianists in ASEAN region, so that Indonesian music can have a place in the international arena.

The participants are ranging from 6-year old children to those of 23 years old, he noted, adding that some of the referees will come from Singapore and Malaysia.

According to him, the participants will compete by playing among other things the works of Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Haydn, and Mendelssohn.
