Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Judicial Commission (KY) on Tuesday submitted 12 names of supreme justice candidates to the House of Representatives (DPR) for further selection.

"The 12 names of justice candidates have previously been selected out of 23 candidates registered with the Judicial Commission," KY Chairman Eman Suparman said after submitting the names of the candidates to the House leadership here on Tuesday.

The list of candidate names was received by the DPR leaders, namely House Speaker Marzuki Alie and two deputy house speakers, namely Priyo Budi Santoso and Shohibul Iman.

Eman said that his commission had registered 23 names of candidates and after conducting selections through interviews, it chose 12 names of them to be submitted to the DPR.

"The 12 names of candidates are the best ones, and we have submitted them to the House," Eman said.

Deputy House Speaker Priyo Budi Santoso said his side hailed the submission of the 12 names of supreme justice candidates by the YK chairman.

"We have accepted the 12 names and we will conduct a fit-and-proper test on them to further select seven names to fill in the vacant posts in the Supreme Court," he said.

The 12 names of candidates are Arofah Windiani, Hartono Abdul Murad, Heru Iriani, Manahan MP Sitompul, Sudrajad Dimyati, Zahrul Rabain (for civil affairs); Bambang Edy Sutanto and Is Sudaryono (state administrative court), Eddy Army, Maruap Dohmatiga Pasaribu, Mulijanto, and Sumardjiatmo (crimes).
