Jakarta (Antara News) - Some 1,200 business leaders are expected to take part in the APEC CEO Summit to be held in Bali on October 5-7, according to the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Informatics.

"Some 1,200 business leaders will come (to Bali) for the APEC CEO meeting," the head of the ministry`s information center and public relations, Gatot Dewa Broto said here on Friday.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is slated to open the three-day meeting.

The APEC CEO Summit is the Asia-Pacific`s premier business event. It provides unparalleled opportunities for business executives to engage in dialogue with Presidents, Prime Ministers and Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Trade, to discover business opportunities through networking with CEOs from hundreds of top Asia-Pacific companies, and to forge connections with economic thought leaders from around the region and the world.

Gatot said a number of heads of state, private sector leaders and influential figures in the Asia Pacific region will address a series of meetings to be held ahead of the APEC Summit.

A number of world leaders, including US President Barack Obama, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Chinese President China Xi Jinoing have confirmed participation in the summit.

This year the summit is themed "Resilient Asia Pacific, and Engine of Global Growth".(*)
