Palembang, S Sumatra (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono expressed his proud feeling over the Indonesian soccer team victory in the AFF Cup by defeating Vietnamese team 7-6 in the final round on Sunday night.

The head of state through his twitter account on Monday appreciated the country`s 19 year-old footballers (U-19) over their success in the AFF Cup that took place in Sidoarjo sports stadium in East Java province.

"Thank God, Indonesia wins the AFF Cup U-19. I was looking on the penalty shootout from Palembang," Yudhoyono said.

On the occassion, Yudhoyono was on his working visit in Palembang to open the 3rd Islamic Solidarity Games (ISG).

The seven goals for the Indonesian team were netted by Fatkhur Rokhman, Dimas Drajad, Hendra Sandi, Hansamu Yama, Putu Gede Juti Antara, Maldini and Ilham Udin.

While the six goals for Vietnam were made by Le Van Son, Hoang thanh tung, Lam Thi Pong, Nguyen Huu Anh Thai, Phan Thanh Hau and Nguyen Van Toan.

The shootout was played after the two teams scored no goals in the 90 minutes of the two rounds and the in the 30-minute extension round, with a score of 0-0.

It was the Indonesia`s first victory for the U-19 squad in the AFF tournament.
