Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The new Indonesian National Police Chief`s inauguration by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will be conducted on Friday evening, according to the head of Indonesian Police headquarters` public relations department, Inspector General Pol. Ronny F. Sompie.

"We`ve received an invitation to attend from the State Secretary as one of the main police functionaries. The inauguration is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the State Palace, where the president will inaugurate Police Commissioner General Pol. Sutarman as the new Indonesian Police Chief," Ronny said here on Friday.

Following the inauguration, the committee, headed by the deputy chief of Indonesia police Commissioner General Pol. Oegroseno and Commissioner General Pol. Imam Sudjarwo, made preparations for the handover from the previous Indonesian Police Chief Gen. Timur Pradopo to the new Police Chief Komjen Pol. Sutarman.

"The handover ceremony will be conducted on Monday, Oct. 28, in the National Police Headquarters` Main Meeting Room in Jakarta," he remarked.

Meanwhile, the committee will host a handover ceremony for the new police chief in the Police Mobile Brigade Corps Headquarters in Depok, West Java.

Previously, the head of state had proposed Commissioner General Pol. Sutarman to the House of Representatives as the sole candidate to replace Police Chief Gen. Timur Pradopo.

After undergoing the fit-and-proper test on Oct. 17, the House approved Sutarman`s candidacy and confirmed this approval during the plenary session.
