Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Police are investigating a brawl that led to the death of a Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) member at Tanjung Barat Street in South Jakarta on Sunday (Oct 27).

The victim, who lived in Kedung Halang Brimob dormitory, was stabbed in his right back and right chest, spokesman of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Snr. Comr. Rikwanto said on Monday.

Rikwanto added that the police are questioning a number of witnesses, including a minibus driver, a fruit seller and the victim`s wife.

"Before the brawl, the victim had been in a disturbance with somebody else near the Pasar Minggu sub-district military command at Tanjung Barat Street. After the disturbance, he walked and sat on the sidewalk near the former site of the Sari Sakti dispensary," he said.

Rikwanto said the body of the victim has been transferred to Kramat Jati police hospital in East Jakarta for an autopsy.(*)
