Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) questioned Banten Provinces Governor Ratu Atut Chosiyah on Tuesday over her alleged involvement in corruption during the procurement of medical equipment for the province.

"I will give a clarification to the KPK about these allegations," Ratu Atut stated before entering the KPK building for the interrogation.

Meanwhile, KPK Spokesman Johan Budi pointed out that investigators had questioned several high ranking officials in the Banten Provinces Health department regarding the corruption allegations.

Earlier, the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) in its report had highlighted three indicators of misappropriation in the procurement of medical equipment in the Banten Province, which was reportedly worth Rp30 billion.

According to the report, in many instances incomplete equipment had been ordered or equipment that was unsuitable as per the specifications required. Some equipment was also found missing during inspection.

Apart from investigating corruption allegations in the Banten Province, the KPK has also launched a probe into a similar case in the South Tangerang district (part of the Banten Province), in which Chosiyahs half brother Tubagus Chaeri Wardhana alias Wawan is a suspect.
