Bogor, W Java (Antara News) - The Taiwan ICDF has handed over the Agribusiness Development Center (ADC) located in Cikarawang, District of Bogor, West Java, to the Bogor Agriculture Institute (IPB) on Tuesday.

"Six years after establishing the integrated system of agribusiness in Cikarawang, Bogor, Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF) is ready to transfer the management of ADC to IPB as a counterpart," stated Deputy of Representative Taipei Economic and Trade Office (TETO) in Indonesia Phoebe Yeh.

According to Yeh, ICDF and IPB have had significant achievements in developing the ADC project which is indicated by the increase of farmers' incomes and the farmers capacity in the integrated agribusiness Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

"The SOP has replicated the cooperation between Taiwan ICDF technical mission and its counterparts in ADC in combining agricultural technology, research and marketing," she stated.

The IPBs Rector Professor Herry Suhardiyanto added that ADC has helped in the increase of agribusiness capacity of the farmers in cultivating organic and non-organic vegetables and fruits.

"The farmers income grouped in ADC has increased 30 percent during its six years of cooperation," Suhardiyanto noted.

In the future, added Suhardiyanto, the new technical maintenance of ADC, IPB will optimize its function as a research center for the IPBs academia and also other universities in Indonesia.

"And of course, we will continue and enhance our partnership with the ADC farmer group," he explained.

The ADC was established in 2007 by the ICDF and IPB, and had 100 farmers as its members, supplying fruits and vegetables with modern packaging to 43 supermarkets in Bogor and Jakarta Capital Region. (*)
