The visibility is not good enough to land the planes, so we had to divert to Surabaya."
Semarang, Central Java (ANTARA News) - Three flights from Jakarta to Ahmad Yani Airport in Semarang was diverted to Juanda Airport in Surabaya due to bad weather on Thursday.

"Three flights were diverted to Surabaya, namely Garuda Indonesia, Lion Air and Sriwijaya Air," stated the General Affairs and Communication Section Head of PT Angkasa Pura I Ahmad Yani Airport Anom Fitranggono.

According to Anom, the weather conditions in Semarang in the morning did not allow the landing of planes.

He explained that the heavy rains led to very limited visibility for the pilot to land the plane.

"The visibility is not good enough to land the planes, so we had to divert to Surabaya," he pointed out.

In the afternoon and evening, Anom added, the weather had started to show signs of improvement so the flights will be returned to normal.

But, due to the diversion and bad weather, a number of flight schedules were delayed.

Earlier, the weather conditions in Semarang and the surrounding indicated rain with mild to moderate intensity all day.

The continuous rain has now caused flooding in some areas. Reporting by IC Senjaya.
