Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Industry Minister Mohamad S Hidayat inaugurated the first export of the energy-saving cars, called Low Cost Green Car (LCGC) to the Philippines.

"With the penetration in Philippines, it shows that the vehicles produced in Indonesia are reliable and that we can respond well, not only to the domestic market but also the export markets," stated the Industry Minister in a press release received in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Hidayat pointed out that after entering the Philippines market, it will continue to explore export markets in other ASEAN countries, Latin America, Central Asia and the Middle East.

According to Hidayat, the success of the PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) in exporting the LCGC products has proven and reinforces the belief that the implementation of the program is on the right track.

The LCGC program, he added, has also managed to bring in investments for the establishment of four new automobile manufacturing plants and more than 100 new automotive spare parts manufacturing plants with an opportunity of employment for 80 thousand people.

Hidayat asked PT ADM to continuously maintain and improve product quality, the local content level, the use of domestic components as well as to keep the manufacturing schedule commitments.

"The vehicles that have been produced are competitive in both domestic and overseas markets. I hope the achievements made by PT ADM can be followed by the other LCGC producers so that Indonesia can be an automotive production base, regionally and internationally," he noted.
