Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Budget wasting should be addressed as it can be a barrier to economic growth, former Trade Minister Gita Wirjawan stated here on Wednesday.

"With the budget policy, we hope that the economic growth can surpass six percent," Gita noted in a press statement.

The Democratic Partys presidential candidate convention laid emphasis on the fact that budget wasting has become one of the barriers to economic growth.

In a bid tackle this problem, he remarked that he will fully support corruption eradication efforts in Indonesia. Budget wasting and corruption can be reduced if there is a better budget policy in place.

Corruption eradication was Gitas vision when he participated in the Democratic Partys presidential candidate convention.

On various occasions, the former trade minister has expressed his strong views on eradicating corruption in Indonesia.

Gita was optimistic that the people of Indonesia can elect an effective and transparent leader in the upcoming general elections.
