Mataram, W Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA News) - An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale shook Sumbawa district, West Nusa Tenggara province, Indonesia, at dawn on Monday but there was no immediate report of casualties.

The epicenter of the quake which struck at 05.21 a.m. local time was located 128 km southeast of Sumbawa island at a depth of 10 km, chief of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) office at the Lombok International Airport AA Trikumara said.

Local resident Zaeuddin said the quake forced scores of people to stay outdoors to save themselves.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 is considered moderate and capable of causing considerable damage.
