Banda Aceh, Aceh (ANTARA News) - Nine military members are being questioned after allegedly lending guns to two civilians to attack the National Democrat Party (NasDem) command post in North Aceh recently.

"Six of the nine TNI members have been questioned at the Military Police in Lhokseumawe. They will also be examined later by the military police at the Iskandar Muda Regional Military Command in Aceh later," the Iskandar Muda Military Command spokesman, Colonel Subagio Irianto clarified here on Wednesday.

The Iskandar Muda Regional Military Command had earlier received information about their alleged involvement, after two civilians were arrested by the police in connection with the shooting incident.

Following the information, a team immediately interrogated the suspected members including Chief Private Heri, who was assigned as a security guard at Exxon Oil and Gas Company in North Aceh.

The other military members being examined are assigned in the same post with Heri who is also a member of Batallion III.

In the initial interrogation Chief Private Heri denied that he had lent his gun to the two civilians, presenting his rifle and the number of its ammunition as evidence.

Chief Private Heri and his friends were equipped with rifles and 75 rounds of ammunition each.

Based on initial investigations, their guns and ammunition remained unchanged. However, all the guns in the security command post have been secured.

"The casings that have been used as proof will be checked to find out if the guns owned by Heri and his friends were indeed not used in the attack," he explained.

Colonel Subagio Irianto assured that the Iskandar Muda Military Command will be transparent with regard to the investigation of the case and will inform the public of any new information found in the investigation.

"We will uncover the case. If there is evidence of involvement of TNI members, later, firm action will be taken. If the information about them is found not true, other measures will also be certainly taken," he asserted.(*)
