Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono inspected Senen Market, here on Friday, which was being gutted by a massive fire.

The head of state closely watched the efforts to extinguish the fire razing the market located in Central Jakarta, since around 4 a.m. local time.

He went to the fire site immediately after attending a function to commemorate the 18th anniversary of Autonomy Day at the State Palace.

Yudhoyono was accompanied by Central Jakarta Mayor Syaifullah and stayed there for around 10 minutes after receiving explanation on the efforts to put out the fire.

Earlier, Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had also been to the fire scene.

At least 40 fire trucks have been deployed to put out the fire.(*)
