... the legislative election last April was bad in the eyes of the public because it was marred by cases of money politics... "
Medan, N Sumatra (ANTARA News) - The implementation of the upcoming July 9, 2014 presidential elections can be fairer than last April 9 legislative elections which were marred by money politics, an observer said.

"The presidential elections offer no chances for the organizers to become traders like in the legislative elections," Shohibul Anshor Siregar of the North Sumatra University, said here on Sunday.

He said that the legislative election last April was bad in the eyes of the public because it was marred by cases of money politics.

Therefore, the government should work hard to make the people aware of the importance for them to use their rights to vote in the presidential elections. It should now concentrate on making the presidential elections a success.

He stated that the government still needed to make improvements on the elections mechanism at polling stations, polling committees, electoral district committees, voting organizer groups and the general elections commission.

It should also carry out improvements with tasks of the Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) because it turned out that the Bawaslu did not carry out its tasks properly, he said.
