Cianjur, W Java (ANTARA News)- Cianjur police chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Dedy Kusuma Bakti has passed shoot on the spot order in a bid to crack down on street hoodlums threatening the public security.

The order came after growing cases of violence involving gangs of motorists intimidating local people in the West Java city.

"We have passed the order to police officers on duty to shoot on the spot the perpetrators threatening the life of civilians or the law enforcers," Dedy said here on Tuesday.

The measure is to stamp out gangs of violent motorists and hoodlums disregarding order from the city streets, he said.

The hoodlums and gangs of violent motorists are growing brutal and sadistic lately, he said.

He said he has placed police officers including plain clothes police officers in certain places where violence had been frequent especially at weekend night.

He said in the past several weeks, he had received a number of reports of violence involving gangs of motorists with innocent people mostly pedestrians falling victims in the city.

He said he called on people not to hesitate to report to nearest police office any act of violence by the hoodlums.

"I will do the shooting if violent criminals resisted and refuse to obey order," he said.

The local hospital RSUD Cianjur, has given medical treatment to six people suffering from the brutality of gangs of violent motorists in the city over the past week. (*)
