Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta composite index opened 0.14 percent lower on Friday on profit taking, analysts said.

"Profit taking was prompted by falling global shares," chief researcher of Trust Securities Reza Priyambada said.

The index of the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) fell slightly 7.04 points to 4,927.37 points with index of 45 most liquid stocks down 0.22 percent to 832.69.

Reza said increase in the basic industry stocks and second layer stocks was not strong enough to push up the JCI.

"The JCI could continue to be on the decline amid limited positive sentiment," he said.

Regional markets such as Hang Seng recorded gain but Nikkei and Straits Times declined.
