Starting late 2015, Azerbaijan will hand over the leadership role to Indonesia for the 2015--2017 period, when we host the 3rd meeting of OIC manpower ministers.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has decided to appoint Indonesia as the host of the third meeting of manpower ministers of the organization next year.

The decision was taken at the meeting of the OIC steering committee held in Baku, Azerbaijan, between June 17 and 18, the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration noted in a press statement released on Friday.

Abdul Wahid Maktub, who led the Indonesian delegation to the Baku meeting, stated that at the OIC meeting next year, Indonesia will highlight the importance of Islam with its universal values, which can be applied to all aspects of life, including manpower.

Indonesia came up with several proposals at the meeting of the OIC steering committee in Azerbaijan.

One of the proposals agreed during the meeting was the creation of a research and study forum to promote the concept of Islamic practices in the manpower field by raising the issue of social protection, among others, he added.

The proposal received a positive response from Azerbaijan as the chairman of the meeting of OIC manpower ministers in 2013--2015, Maktub remarked.

The meeting of the OIC steering committee also discussed and adopted cooperation projects in the field of occupational health and safety, including a general guide to implementing it, information on job opportunities for the public, and the development of a migrant worker database.

"Starting late 2015, Azerbaijan will hand over the leadership role to Indonesia for the 2015--2017 period, when we host the 3rd meeting of OIC manpower ministers," Maktub added.
