"By committing such brutality, Israel has ignored the human rights principles and humanitarian laws, and hence it has moved towards genocide," HRWG Executive Director Rafend Djamin remarked.
Pekanbaru, Riau, (Antara News) - Indonesia's Human Rights Working Group (HRWG) has urged the government to persuade the United Nations to stop aggression and human rights violation in Palestine.

"The human rights violation by Israel has killed tens of civilians, including children and women. The crime against humanity is a violation of human rights and humanitarian principles," HRWG Executive Director Rafendi Djamin stated in an emailed message on Thursday.

Djamin expressed his deep concern over the brutality carried out by Israel, which has launched air strikes against Palestinian civilians.

The humanitarian crisis in Palestine must become the key concern of the international community, he pointed out.

"By committing such brutality, Israel has ignored the human rights principles and humanitarian laws, and hence it has moved towards genocide," Djamin remarked.

The HRWG has urged the Indonesian government to take a firm stance and view the crisis as a violation of human rights.

"Attacking innocent civilians, particularly children and women, even in a war situation is forbidden in the world. So, Indonesia must be firm and play a role as a member of the UN Human Rights Council and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)," Djamin added.

He also referred to Indonesias Constitution saying that colonialism must be abolished and Indonesia must help maintain peace in the world.

A Pekanbaru-based mass organization, Riau Youths Front (BMR), has issued a condemnation against Israel for killing Palestinian civilians, including children.

"The BMR strongly condemns the Israeli barbaric action against the Palestinian people in Gaza. Israel has indiscriminately bombed Palestinian people," BMR Chairman Diaz Bagus Amandha noted here on Thursday.

Israel has conducted a genocide, which is beyond the limits of humanity and has violated the international human rights, Amandha stated.

The BMR plans to collect donations for the Gaza people who have become victims of the Zionists brutality, he added.***1***
