"The Golkar Party`s stance is firm. It will be consistent with its decision to be in the Red-White coalition supporting the Prabowo-Hatta ticket," Tantowi Yahya said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Secretary General of Golkar Party, Tantowi Yahya, has said the party will never reverse its decision to participate in the coalition of parties supporting the Jokowi-Jusuf Kalla ticket.

"The Golkar Partys stance is firm. It will be consistent with its decision to be in the Red-White coalition supporting the Prabowo-Hatta ticket," he said at the parliament building here on Tuesday.

Tantowi Yahya made the statement in response to a question regarding doubts over the partys consistency, with regard to its decision to join the Red and White coalition.

The Red and White coalition consists of seven parties, including the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra), which is Prabowos party; the National Mandate Party (PAN), which is the party of Prabowos running mate, Hatta Rajasa; the Golkar Party, the Democrat Party of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono; the United Development Party (PPP); the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) and the Moon and Star Party (PBB).

On Monday, these parties declared they would be a permanent coalition.

Several politicians, however, predicted that Golkar Party would later shift its support to the Jokowi-Jusuf Kalla pair, if the ticket is later declared the winner of the presidential election on July 9.

Tantowi denied the suggestion, saying that Golkar Party, which was the runner up in the legislative election on April 9, will be consistent with its decision to stay in the Red and White coalition supporting the Prabowo-Hatta pair.

The current deputy chairman of the House of Representatives Commission I said that the idea was only conveyed by members outside the partys board membership.

Several Golkar Party politicians have signaled that the party could possibly move to support the Jokowi-Jusuf Kalla pair.(*)
