Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono here on Sunday held phone talks with Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas to discuss the latest situation in Gaza.

"I have talked with President Abbas by phone. He is on his way to Qatar for a meeting regarding the situation in Gaza," President Yudhoyono said during a fast-breaking event held at the Presidential Palace.

In the phone talks, Yudhoyono expressed Indonesias concern about the situation in Gaza following Israels military attack. The Indonesian president called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza to allow humanitarian workers to enter the area.

Meanwhile, Foreign Affairs Minister Marty Natalegawa said President Yudhoyono during the phone conversation with President Abbas uttered Indonesias commitment to help Palestine.

"President Yudhoyono also has expressed his support for the efforts made by the Palestinian authority to stop violence in Gaza and draw international attention to this case," Marty added.
